FORMER ROH OWNER CARY SILKIN TO CONFRONT RIC FLAIR OVER MONEY OWED

By Mike Johnson on 2016-05-26 10:52:00

We noted yesterday that on 7/23, Ric Flair and Rick Steamboat will be featured at a Q&A as the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA.  That event goes on sale in a few days but has a pre-sale today using code RING.

Interestingly, former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin (who lives locally in the area) has taken to social media to note he plans to approach Flair about money owed from when Flair worked for ROH years ago:

Ring of Honor, at the time owned by Silkin, filed a lawsuit against Flair in January 2010 in Bucks County, PA, alleging Flair owed the company over $40,000. The lawsuit stemmed from Flair failing to live up to his contracted obligations as the "ROH Ambassador" on ROH on HDNet tapings (ROH was in the midst of a TV deal with that network, now known as AXSTV) and ROH live events.

At the time, the lawsuit alleged that Flair was originally signed to make five appearances at ROH house shows for $10,000 an appearance. Flair failed to appear at a scheduled ROH event on Montreal In July 2009 and then failed to return his $10,000 advance payment for that event.

The lawsuit also alleged that Flair only attended one ROH on HDNet Television Taping after coming to terms with the group to appear in an authority figure role. Flair appeared at one taping and at the start of the next set, made a brief announcement to the live crowd that he was resigning the commission due to his relationship with WWE.  The lawsuit noted that Flair was paid $35,000 for the TV appearances and only made one appearance.

When Sinclair Broadcast Group purchased ROH in May 2011, the lawsuit was officially dropped as Silkin's version of ROH was dissolved and replaced by the ROH company founded by Sinclair, which acquired the assets but did not take the lawsuit on themselves.  Silkin has remained vocal over the years about Flair owning him the money.
