In advance of the debut of the first-ever WWE Global Cruiserweight Series this July on the WWE Network, WWE has released highlights of several qualifying matches from over the weekend held by PROGRESS Wrestling in Great Britain:
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Flash Morgan Webster - Global Cruiserweight Series Qualifying Match
Jack Gallagher vs. Pete Dunne - Global Cruiserweight Series Qualifying Match
As we noted several months ago when the tournament was announced, WWE intends to leverage it's massive online audience to promote the talents involved and make their audience familiar with them via WWE.com and the company's associated social media platforms.
"When that first [episode] airs, you will have already seen a lot about these talents on WWE.com and through that digital space, you'll be able to learn about these performers before they get into WWE and into this tournament for us, " Triple H told PWInsider.com in an interview this past February. Today's videos were the first step in that process.
EVOLVE Wrestling and Revolution Pro will be hosting additional qualifying matches in the weeks ahead, so those promotions will also be receiving the same spotlight PROGRESS received today.
The Cruiserweight Series will film in late June in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University.
