THE DEATH OF WCW, COREY GRAVES IS GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES, THE DIVA'S REVOLUTION AND MORE

I believe Corey Graves is currently, by far, the best color commentator in the business right now.  He's really come into his own and I love his new era approach when it comes to being a heel in that role.  He exhibits credibility and never takes me out of the moment.  Thoughts?

I am with you. I love Corey’s work. WWE has a keeper in him. With all due respect to Jerry Lawler, I would love seeing Graves on Smackdown with Mauro Ranallo.

Is there a “Hulk Hogan clause” in Chris Jericho’s contract in which he decides when and where he will lose matches?  While I understand not making him a complete jobber as with The Brooklyn Brawler, I fail to see how he’s helping new talent rise by getting clean wins over A. J. Styles at Mania, and Sami Zayn on Raw.  Your thoughts, please?

Nope, there isn’t. He has been booked oddly for sure over the last few years. He lost to Fandango for Pete’s sake. But now that talent is thin, the company needs him and is booking him to be stronger than they had been. I am with you, while I respect Jericho it does bug me to see older, part time guys beating younger full time guys, especially guys that could draw money for the company.

What women’s (instead of divas) revolution?  Charlotte always needs “daddy’s help” to win, and now Natalya is going to have Bret Hart in her corner for Payback?  Even if Bret’s only purpose is to thwart Ric Flair, in my opinion, it will still take away from the two women and their performance.  So why is WWE unable to have a women’s championship match without the interference or participation of men?

To be fair, they often overbook the men too. I am curious to see what kind of match they let Natty and Charlotte have at Payback. If nothing else, the “revolution” has given us better, more athletic matches from the women. That in of itself is a good thing.

I just read the Q & A where you disagreed with a reader who thinks that Hogan and Bischoff were sent to TNA as a ‘Trojan Horse” of sorts, to undermine the company from within.  (I do agree that it is preposterous, even though they couldn’t have done a worse job if they were doing it on purpose.) What do you think, however, about the conspiracy theory that the guy who moved from USA Network to Turner, (either Siegel or Kellner), greased the skids for Vince to quickly steal WCW?  The theory being that the individual, having close ties to Vince McMahon, at least helped out a friend, if not completing a pre-planned scheme. Kevin Sullivan and Jim Cornett along with others, while not mentioning names, have suggested that WCW was destroyed from within. Your thoughts?

WCW was definitely destroyed from within, with bad contracts and bad booking. Both of those things led to the company falling from its Apex, during the NWO angle. Yes, Jamie Kellner made the decision to not air WCW any more, which led to a potential deal with Fusient Media Ventures falling through but guess what? It’s not like that group could sell WCW programming to any other network. The reason was that even with the ratings that WCW was bringing in, advertisers didn’t want to pay a lot to reach the audience (which has been a problem that wrestling has had for decades). WCW was already on thin ice with the AOL merger, since back then AOL did not want to fund divisions that lost money, and WCW was losing money. So in a nutshell, the bad contracts, booking and management led WCW to its death in my opinion. Much like TNA today, WCW didn’t need a Trojan Horse back then either. They did a great job of taking it down on their own.

Do you think Shane is being used as a scape goat to "change" the product by "running" raw, and if it doesn't work, then it can just be blamed on him?

Not at all, no. WWE knows that they are putting different names out there. They are using Shane to be the vehicle of introduction, that’s all.
