ANOTHER TNA DEPARTURE TONIGHT

By Mike Johnson on 2016-04-22 21:36:00

As first reported by PWInsider.com, former TNA Knockouts champion Velvet Sky finished up with the promotion at tonight's Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando, Florida.  Sky's contract with the promotion expires this week.

TNA acknowledged Sky's departure, releasing the following statement:

IMPACT WRESTLING today announced a mutual decision with TNA Knockouts veteran Velvet Sky to not renew her agreement.

Sky’s final in-ring appearance with TNA occurred in Orlando earlier today and will broadcast on an upcoming episode of IMPACT WRESTLING seen Tuesday nights at 9/8c on Pop.

“This has been my home for 10 years and, no matter what happens in my future, I will never forget where I’ve come from or the people who have helped me get where I am,” said Sky. “Thank you to everyone at TNA – from talent to production to crew -who has helped me do what I love.”

Sky is the latest departure from the company, following Eric Young, Angelina Love, Christy Hemme and Bobby Roode.

Sky, 34, debuted for TNA in 2007 and has been a major cornerstone of the promotion's Knockouts division for years as part of The Beautiful People with Angelina Love (who herself disclosed over the weekend that she was gone from the company).  Sky left the promotion in January of 2015 after being "fired" via The Feast or Fired route and returned in May 2015 as a babyface.    She has been one of the best merchandise sellers in the company over the last several years, at times, second to only Jeff Hardy.   Sky's most recent storyline was a feud with the Dollhouse that climaxed at the London Lockdown event.
