WRESTLEMANIA GOING LONG, PRE-VINCE IN THE GORILLA POSITION, ROMAN VS. AJ AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-04-07 10:00:00

Was it a bad idea to Go 5 hours (7 counting the pre show) for Wrestlemania this year? I can tell you for me by the time Reigns and HHH went on I was ready for bed.

I don't think it was a bad idea for the show to run long.  I think most fans would have preferred knowing how long the show was going to run in advance, however.

I presume AJ Styles had Bill Behrens negotiate his WWE contract (maybe Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson did too). I'm wondering do many wrestlers negotiate contracts with an agent or does WWE frown upon doing business with a talent that has representation?

If a wrestler prefers to have an agent or an attorney represent them, WWE will do business that way but I think WWE would prefer to do the discussions one on one with talents.

So AJ Styles loses to a part-timer at Wrestemania and then becomes the number one contender, Why do I have the feeling that Vince is trying to build up his champion by feeding him a guy the fans are behind?  I imagine his thought process is that if Roman hangs with AJ the fans will think “this guy isn’t so bad” and they’ll get behind him.  Has Vince noticed that this formula has hurt the long term health of his company and will probably only make the fans hate Reigns more?  It’s the Cena process all over again.

WWE's goal for Roman Reigns should be to put him in the best matches possible and hopefully, his work will help the audience start to accept him in the top role.  Styles is certainly someone he can have an amazing match with.  How can Vince see that formula as making fans hate Roman more when he hasn't fully executed the plan yet?

I noticed the WWE uses old school CRT monitors at the commentator booths that can sometimes be used as a weapon. Why haven't they switched to flat screen LED TV's?

They keep the old way so that the LED flatscreens aren't a distraction live to the audience and it's a lot cheaper to use the CRTs as weapons.

Back in the 90s when Vince McMahon was handling the play-by-play who was in the back calling the shots in the Gorilla position?

Gorilla Monsoon, Pat Patterson and JJ Dillon, depending on the era.
