SHANE MCMAHON AND UNDERTAKER UPDATES, WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-04-04 11:51:00

I've just returned home after being in Dallas for five days for Wrestlemania coverage and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to the seemingly endless procession of people I had a chance to talk with at Wrestlecon, the NWA Parade of Champions, AXXESS, The WWE Hall of Fame, ROH, EVOLVE, Jim Ross' show Saturday night and Wrestlemania.  It was one of my favorite weeks ever, made even better by the fact that so many old friends were congregrating in the same place.

So, onto some news:

For those who asked about Shane McMahon after his match with Undertaker last night, we are told he was fine and was seen walking around the WWE Hotel without any sign of injury.  The stretcher job was storyline.

What is interesting, however, is that there was a lot of speculation last night backstage that last night may have indeed been the Undertaker's last Wrestlemania.  We were told there were a lot of family and friends in Dallas for the match and quite a few people backstage wondered if Undertaker taking off his gloves after had some symbolic meaning.  There was a lot of speculation, but as of now, time will tell.

Brock Lesnar is not slated for tonight's Raw.

There was a lot of back and forth over the last week as to whether Charlotte or Sasha Banks would be crowned the first Women's champion.  The final decision to go with Charlotte was made a few days before Wrestlemania we are told.    The initial plan was to have the belt introduced on tonight's Raw but WWE changed strategy with the rollout over the course of Wrestlemania week.  They are already selling replicas on their website.

Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows are in Dallas.

Lucha Underground's Melissa Santos was backstage at Wrestlemania.  We had heard there was some interest in her a few weeks ago:

During Wrestlemania, WWE production utilized some interesting techniques to get the crowd to respond to the matches during the PPV last night.  They played animated videos pushing the crowd to chant "New Day Rocks" and to sing, "Hey, We Want Some New Day" during their match.  They also kept a count of every suplex Dean Ambrose took and put up an animated "WOO" every time Charlotte utilized the figure eight.

Maryse was in attendance at the PPV last night.
