Why doesn't WWE Network air old episodes of Superstars and Wrestling Challenge?
They have to reformat old episodes of shows and make sure that they still have the rights to air whatever is on the program. It is a long process and frankly they have other older shows that are more of a draw for the Network than those.
As a recent "cord cutter", I was wondering who does the editing on the 90 minute version of RAW that appears on Hulu? Is it Hulu or is it WWE? The reason I ask is IMHO they do a fairly annoying job of picking and choosing what stays in and what comes out, as we get a lot of the recap/replay package left in, and actual matches taken out.
WWE sends the version of the show that they want Hulu to air. I don't believe that has changed. Obviously, from WWE's perspective, they would rather you watch Raw on USA since that is where the lion's share of their revenue comes from. If you don't, they want you to keep up with storylines.
With Sting going into the WWE Hall of Fame, I thought again about the aspersions cast on his drawing ability. Given Night of Champions' significant jump in buys from the previous year, his strong DVD and merch numbers since joining WWE, and WrestleMania 31 being the most-watched ever (I'll go out on a limb and say that Sting's debut vs. Triple H brought at least as many eyes as the not-over Roman Reigns going for the title), can we give Sting a little credit for drawing money, even if not consistently?
I think what you are confusing here is the level at which he was a draw. No one ever said he wasn't popular or didn't have fans. He was and he does. The criticism came from when he was "the guy". And the numbers are what they are. It doesn't mean he was a curtain jerker. It just means that when he was on top he didn't draw as well as many of his peers.
I have my reservations about Shane vs. Undertaker. People will have such high expectations for Shane to take crazy bumps, which might not be advisable given Shane is a lot older now and hasn't been in the ring in many years. Plus, no one in their right mind expects Shane to even come close to beating Taker. My question is, if Cena is ready to go at Wrestlemania, do you think the best situation would be for Shane to bring him in and take his place against Undertaker?
If Cena can go and is cleared, hell yes I use him! I am with you, I don't want to see Shane, at 46 years old, taking dangerous bumps. If Cena can go, him vs. Taker would be more fun to watch too. The weird thing is Shane is supposed to be the babyface, but the fans don't want to boo Taker. But many will boo Cena if he works the match. Mike Epsenhart and I discussed the situation in-depth on Saturday's Mailbag show if you want a deeper analysis on this subject.
Ok, so Vince ignores the pulse of the WWE Universe again and gives us Roman Reigns in the title picture at WM32. So what do we expect, a clean finish with Reigns going over, a double turn, or, (sigh) the finger poke of doom?
One would think if Vince goes through with the match, he will go through with his finish and put the WWE Title on Roman. I think he will be less than happy with the reaction that the vocal part of the crowd at Mania gives him. Personally, I think that the best idea would be to blow up the booking this Saturday and have Dean Ambrose beat Triple H and defend at Mania against Brock Lesnar and turn HHH vs. Roman Reigns into a grudge match, which would put less pressure on it. We shall see.
