THE LAST WCW SHOW, DOES WWE NEED REY MYSTERIO, AJ STYLES AS THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP AND MORE

I've read about it here and there in the past but as each Hall of Fame announcement passes I'm reminded of it.  Is there some kind of high level heat between Vince and King Kong Bundy?  I think he's a worthy inductee and would be an entertaining speech.  Any insight into this situation?

Bundy has been critical of the company in interviews.  He said in an interview that he hasn't talked with Vince McMahon since he left the WWF in 1994.  That doesn't mean that they won't work together down the road, but it doesn't sound like it's imminent.

I had long believed (as, it seems, did many others) that WCW closed on March 26, 2001 with the last Nitro. A fellow wrestling fan recently pointed me toward an April 1, 2001 edition of "WCW Worldwide" (which I'd never heard of), and indeed, Scott Hudson, Mike Tenay and production staff were still working away, recapping the March 26 Nitro. Was April 1, 2001 the true closure of WCW? Did the company produce anything after this show?

For all intents and purposes, March 26 was the final show.  The recap show was just a byproduct of the last show as Worldwide was a taped program.

I don't recall the specifics of Rey Mysterio's departure from WWE, but let's assume a blank slate and he was willing and able to return.  Does the emergence of the Lucha Dragons, particularly the recent singles success of Kalisto, make the WWE think twice about signing an older guy who has a very similar look and move set to not one but two guys they already have?

Rey wasn't happy with his push in WWE and frankly, that wouldn't change much (at least not in the long run) if he came back.  When he was younger, he was an amazing flyer and that allowed him to have more believable matches against bigger men.  As he got older and slowed down, it affected the presentation.  He was just hard to take seriously against larger opponents.  None of that has changed in the time he has been away, especially when you consider he just turned 41 years old in December.  Kalisto is doing a good job in the Rey role.

With the retirement of Daniel Bryan, there is a big void in terms of a guy who the fans can really get behind and force WWE's hand to push them to the top of the card.  Do you think AJ Styles can be the guy to fill this void?  I could totally see him in a top spot at next year's WrestleMania if pushed in this manner.

Could I see it happening, in theory?  Sure.  Given Vince McMahon's hesitancy to push smaller guys very hard, plus his inability to listen when they fans tell them that they want someone, it seems like an uphill climb to me.

With Michael Hayes going in to the Hall of Fame, I am wondering why did they give him a new name (Doc Hendrix) to be an announcer?

Vince McMahon likes rebranding talents and owning their names.  It is smart from a business perspective.  Plus, the Freebirds didn't exactly light the WWF on fire in the short time that they worked there.
