IS SHANE MCMAHON THE WWE SAVIOR?, IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF VINCE MCMAHON'S EXIT, BULLET CLUB & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-02-25 10:00:00

I was in a wrestling chat room last night when everyone in the room went crazy and said that WWE was being saved when Shane returned. My question is do you think a story line band aid fix the negative buzz surrounding WWE and fix the real problems plaguing the product (i.e. ratings etc) by giving it some positive buzz? I ask this in a climate where I personally don't think the product is any worse than the any other time in the past ten years with it's high and low points but bad buzz seems to be whats driving ratings down more than anything. The same way the good buzz surrounding Lucha Underground recently have lead people to say it's the best wrestling show on TV and better than Raw when it has it's faults and it's like comparing apples and oranges. Or do you think WWE really needs a behind the scenes commitment to change things not just putting Shane in charge in the storylines to create good buzz and ultimately change things around?

First of all, the return of any one talent isn't going to 'turn things around' in the way you are discussing above.  I think a lot of fans got really excited about Shane McMahon because it came out of nowhere (something WWE deserves a great amount of credit for) and because McMahon has been away and was pretty much well liked during his previous run as a character for the company.  I think there's a lot of good wrestling on WWE TV every week that gets overlooked because the storylines supporting the wrestling isn't always great.  If they are going to use Shane as the lynchpin to improve creative going forward or change the way the company is marketed and presented, great.  If he's just in for a short run, fine with me.  I do think fans are going to assume Shane is back to be the "savior" and if that reverses some of the negativity towards the company, I think WWE is fine with that.

Its Feb 23rd, any WWE status update on the other Bullet Club members who have left NJPW?

Nothing yet.   WWE just announced Nakamura so I could see them waiting until March to announce a signing.  If I was them, I would even make the announcement in Japan.

I really enjoyed the feature pieces on Sheamus and Triple H and that we got to see Mike Johnson use his "writing muscles" so to speak.  Will we see more WWE personality pieces down the line?

To be determined.  If WWE is willing to give us access, sure, but we can't assume that's going to happen.  I really appreciate the compliments!

So…let me get this straight: Titus grabs Vince McMahon in a joking manner, at a live event, but one that was not broadcast on live TV only on the Network. Titus gets suspended.  Vince McMahon drops an F-Bomb on live TV…and….Just a case of the boss saying…Do as I say..not as I do?

A better example would be to point out that WWE fired Brad Maddox for saying "cocky pr**ks" during a dark segment and then Vince went out and dropped the F bomb.  I hear what you are saying though.  No one says life is fair or just, not even in the wrestling business.

Shane vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania: Could this finally be a story line to set up Vince McMahon’s exit. HHH interferes in the match, revealing him and Shane have been in cahoots. HHH gets heel heat from screwing the Undertaker, leading to Roman being cheered in the main event…Is this too far out for me to armchair book?

I haven't heard anything about Vince McMahon exiting in any capacity.  Way too far out to arm-chair book.

I'm watching the ROH wrestling TV show from the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The new video tron set looks great, the ring product is great as always, but the building looks empty. Do you have any idea what the attendance number was for the TV taping? I hope it was at least in the 1000 range.

Based on reports we received, the taping drew in the 600-800 range.
