Just shy of a sell out. There were a couple of empty rows in each corner of the Coliseum. The last two events at the Coliseum (both Raw live events) were legit sell outs. The new'ish SmackDown live event stage is pretty nice. The production creates a Twitter hashtag to use (#wweelpaso) and displays various tweets on the big screens.
The event ran very smoothly. The renovations at the El Paso Coliseum have turned out very well.
Sin Cara defeated Hunico in the opening contest. Camacho escorted Hunico to the ring. Sin Cara picked up the win with a sunset flip type powerbomb by reversing Hunico's powerbomb attempt. Hunico was born in El Paso, Texas and graduated from a local high school (Burges High School). Camacho (son of Haku) played football for the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
Vickie Guerrero defeated Kaitlyn. AJ was the special referee. Vickie announced that she is rebranding herself the "Queen Diva."
It was then announced that fans would decide the stipulation for the main event by a text message poll. The options were a street fight or a 2 out of 3 falls match.
Ryback pinned Drew McIntyre with his fisherman suplex powerslam. Drew looked bigger and far more muscular compared to Ryback (in my opinion).
After a false finish, Christian retained the I-C championship against Cody Rhodes. Initially, Cody pinned Christian to win the title. He had powerbombed Christian and placed his feet on the ropes for leverage. Teddy Long came out, reversed the referee's decision, and restarted the match. Two or three moves later, Christian picked up the win. To be honest, this was bad booking as Christian came off looking weak.
Sheamus defeated Alberto Del Rio with the brogue kick. Line of the night: ADR is on the mic and asks the crowd "Are you really cheering this guy?" The crowd responds positively. "I am the Mexican here!" he replied. The had the crowd in stitches.
Intermission
The Great Khali defeated Jinder Mahal with his two hand choke slam. Khali was surprisingly over and seem to very much enjoy himself.
Kane pinned Chris Jericho with a chokeslam. Surprisingly little crowd reaction to either. Very odd. Jericho is complete pro and still gave it 100%.
CM Punk defeated Daniel Bryan with the GTS after an AJ distraction. This match was held under Street Fight rules. Very entertaining match. Both wrestlers were completely over with the crowd. Both had their very loud supporters. Great stuff by both. As per usual, CM Punk honors the memory of Eddie Guerrero after the match.
