Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan

Morgan and Joe began slugging it out immediately. Joe was sent into the turnbuckles but fired back with a series of hard chops in the corner. Morgan muscled Joe over and fired back with his own, then the rapid fire elbows in the corner. Morgan hit a running backwards splash in the corner.

Morgan nailed a running leg into the ropes, sending himself over the top to the outside. Morgan dropped a legdrop onto Joe, who was positioned outside on the apron. Joe went to the floor, where Morgan rammed him backward into the apron. Morgan followed up wth headbutts but Joe went after his eyes and raked his face. Joe returned to the ring and nailed a flying forearm suicide dive to the floor.

Joe tossed Morgan back into the ring and continued the assault in the corner. Morgan fought him off and nailed a flying bodypress into the ring for a two count. Joe went to the outside when he saw Morgan going for the Carbon Footprint, so Morgan grabbed at him. Joe snapped him over the ropes and nailed a leaping kick on Morgan.

Joe began choking Morgan against the ropes and nailed several kicks. Joe worked over Morgan with a series of kicks and strikes. Morgan went down after a hard kick in the corner and was nearly pinned. Joe stopped a Morgan offensive front and used a Judo throw and a Kimura to work over Morgan’s bad arm and pectoral muscle.

Morgan finally made it to the ropes and forced the break. Morgan and Joe battled back and forth with Morgan nailing several shots. Joe kicked Morgan but Morgan came back with a discus clothesline. Morgan nailed an Avalanche in the corner and drilled him with a sideslam for a two count. Joe came back with a belly to belly suplex for a two count.

Joe went for his Kokina Clutch but didn’t cinch it in. That allowed Morgan to ram him backwards into the corner. Joe latched it on again and cinched it in, taking Morgan to the mat. Morgan uses his leg size to get to the ropes and force a break. Joe began arguing with the referee, allowing Morgan to recover and nail the Carbon Footprint.

Good match. They told a good back and forth story. They actually got the Footprint over as a move that could take anyone out anytime since Joe easily had him on the run. Morgan selling for Joe was more believable than it usually is and Joe is always a strong performer in the ring. These guys did a good job.

Jeremy Borash interviewed Robert Roode, who was with James Storm. Roode said he’s been ready for this opportunity for 13 years. He said that Gunner and Ray almost put his shoulder out right before the Series started. He said that Gunner had a hell of a run the last nine months but he’s been here nine years. He promised to make Gunner tap and then he was going to take out Bully Ray. Storm said he really hoped it would be them in the end, but he got DQ’d. He told Roode to take out Gunner and then take out the fat piece of sh** Bully Ray. Storm said the people are going to be chanting Bobby’s name because they aren’t just his fans but because they believe in him. Fans started chanting Bobby. He said this was Roode’s time and he needed to go get it done. Good promo from Roode and Storm’s delivery was awesome.

Bound for Glory Series: Gunner vs. Robert Roode

They locked up but neither man got the better of it and they backed off. Big “Bobby” chant for Roode. They locked up again and had some good back and forth counter wrestling. Gunner ended up cinching in a hammerlock but Roode used a headlock takedown. They continued going back and forth but Gunner slipped out of the ring when Roode tried to cinch in a hold.

Roode followed him to the floor. They battled back and forth. They brought up that Roode made Ric Flair submit at Lockdown. Back in the ring, Roode worked over Gunner with a keylock style submission but Gunner drilled him with a hell of a DDT.

Gunner went after Roode but was caught with an elbow. Gunner got right back at him, choking Roode against the ropes. Gunner continued working over Roode with a headscissors around the neck of Roode, trying to force a submission and wear his opponent down. Roode is able to get to the ropes.

Roode slipped out and went for the Fujiwara armbar but Gunner countered it and nailed a short arm clothesline. Gunner nailed a neckbreaker and locked on a full nelson in the middle of the ring. He forced Roode down towards the mat with it. The crowd began ralling Roode. Roode and Gunner battled back and forth. Roode locked on the Fujiwara armbar but Gunner clubbed him in the back of the neck. Roode nailed a spinebuster but was too hurt to follow up.

Roode grabbed the armbar submission but Gunner fought his way to the ropes and made it. Gunner charged Roode but was kicked in the shoulder. Gunner still nailed a running knee to Roode. Roode went for a clothesline but was caught in a Fireman’s Carry. Roode grabbed the arm and turned it into another armbar submission. Gunner almost made it to the ropes but was rolled towards the middle and locked in a crossface. Gunner finally tapped.

Solid match although based on the crowd reaction, they weren’t into the submissions. I thought it was fine for the story they wanted to tell.

As Roode went to leave the ring, out came Eric Bischoff. He said that Roode showed tenacity and heart and wanted to congratulate him. He asked the fans to give it up for Bobby Roode. He said that the bad news is that he’s not going to be able to cash the check his mouth wrote earlier tonight and announced Roode would face Ray later on.

Jeremy Borash interviewed Austin Aries. Aries said the time to talk is over. He told Brian Kendrick that all their talk and comments are meaningless. He said that it’s time for Total Nonstop Action and Total Nonstop Aries. He said that for all of Kendrick’s strangeness, he’s a top athlete and is going to bring his A-Game. Unfortunately, that’s not good enough to beat Aries. Aries promised to be the next and possibly last X-Division champion.

TNA X-Divison champion Brian Kendrick vs. Austin Aries

They had some nice back and forth wrestling to open things up with some unique reversals. Kendrick tried to cinch in an armbar but Aries went to the floor. Back in the ring, Aries nails an armdrag into an armbar. Kendrick uses a headscissors to escape. Kendrick nailed several good armdrags and dropkicks to keep Aries off balance.

Aries shoulderblocked his way back into the ring but Kendrick rolled through and kicked him in the head. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2 but Aries sent him off and went to the floor. Kendrick followed and they battled on the floor. Aries sent him into a chair in the corner on the floor and worked him over. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2 on the flor but was sent into the ringpost. Aries slammed him again into the ringpost and rolled him back in, scoring a two count.

Aries slingshot himself over the top, snapping down on Aries with a double sledgehammer for a two count. Aries drilled the champ with a forearm and followed up with another stiff strike. Aries drilled him with a high leaping elbow for a two count. He measured Kendrick and nailed a knee to the spine, then began tying up Kendrick with a stump puller.

Aries was caught with a jawbreaker but is nailed and thrown hard into the buckles. Aries charged Kendrick but was kicked and sent flying. Kendrick nailed a series of kicks for offense. Aries was hung up outside on the ropes and dropkicked to the floor. Kendrick hit a tope to the outside.

Kendrick tossed Aries back into the ring and nailed a missile dropkick for a two count. Kendrick nailed a tornado DDT for a two count but Aries draped his foot over the bottom rope. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2 but Aries shoved him over the top the floor, where he hit with a sickening thud. Aries went for a running suicide dive but Kendrick ducked out of the way and Aries nailed the barricade hard chest and throat first.

Champion and challenger barely made it back into the ring before a ten count. They, exhausted, went back and forth, until Kendrick was tossed to the floor. Aries went for a slingshot twisting dive but looked to have missed Kendrick completely and landed rudely facefirst. It was SCARY. Aries seemed OK and nailed a running back elbow and hard dropkick in the corner for a two count.

Kendrick went for a small package then a backslide but Aries kicked out each time. Kendrick nailed a roaring elbow, then a draping DDT, nearly getting the pin on Kendrick.

Aries went for a 450 splash but Kendrick rolled out of the way, dropkicked him into the turnbuckle, then nailed a double underhook suplex into a bridge for a two count. Kendrick went for Sliced Bread #2 but Aries kicked him low and nailed a brainbuster for the pin.

Really good back and forth physical match.
