FULL SUMMERSLAM REPORT

By Buck Woodward on 2004-08-16 11:02:00

Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff entered Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long's office.  Bischoff congratulated Long on becoming the new Smackdown GM, then remarked how every time there is a dual brand PPV, there is a new Smackdown GM.  Bischoff insinuated that Long wouldn't last either.  Long responded by stating that if Bischoff was every successful in running Eugene off of Raw, he'd be happy to sign him for Smackdown. Long said he would sign any Raw star that was tired of dealing with Bischoff, then walked off.

They showed the Dodgeball court for the big game later.

Intercontinental Champion Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Batista. Edge got a big reaction from his hometown crowd, and Batista attacked him during the ring introductions. After Batista knocked Edge from the ring, Jericho attacked Batista, pounding him in a corner.  Batista would toss him away, but Jericho would go right back after him.  Batista hit a back elbow on Jericho and shoulderblocked him in a corner.  Batista hit a running shoulderblock, and a powerslam.  Batista went for a powerbomb, but Edge ran in and clipped his leg.  Jericho rolled to the floor as Edge started pounding on Batista. Edge booted a charging Batista, and dove off the second rope, but Batista caught him with a shot to the gut. Batista hit Edge with Snake Eyes, but Jericho tripped Batista from the floor.  Batista kicked him away, and Edge dropkicked Batista.  Batista got tangled in the ropes, and Edge knocked him over the top to the floor.  On the outside, Edge gave Batista a drop toe hold into the steps, and then Jericho dropkicked Batista as he was slumped up against the steps.  Jericho and Edge then entered the ring and went face to face.

Jericho hit some right hands and forearms, but Edge responded with punches and chops, and hit a knee to the gut, to boos from the crowd.  Edge went for a DDT, but Jericho blocked it and went for a Walls Of Jericho, which Edge turned into a small package for a two count.  Jericho hit Edge with a high cross bodyblock off the ropes, and Edge rolled through and used the ropes for a two count.  Jericho grabbed Edge's legs and applied the Walls Of Jericho.  Edge struggled for the ropes, but Jericho brought him back to the middle of the ring, to cheers.  Batista ran in and blasted Jericho from behind to break it up.  Batista tossed Jericho shoulder first into the ringpost, and Jericho fell to the floor.  Batista went after Edge, but a series of reversals ended with Edge hitting an Implant DDT for two.  Edge measured Batista for a spear, but as he charged, Jericho ran in and clotheslined Edge.  Batista grabbed Jericho in a spinebuster, but Edge broke up the cover.  Edge floated over a Batista backdrop and into a cradle for two.  Edge ducked a charging Batista, and Batista went over the top rope and to the floor.  Jericho cradled Edge for a two count, as the fans chanted "Y2J".  Jericho went for a bulldog, Edge pushed it off, missed a big boot, and Jericho got the bulldog on Edge.  Jericho hit a springboard dropkick to knock Batista off the ring apron.  As he got up, Edge hit him with a spear for the pin at the nine minute mark.

Winner: Edge.
