Is it me, or is HHH's pedigree getting weaker looking all the time? This past Eaw in the LSM, Orton's head didn't even touch the ground. So obvious! Maybe it's time for a new finisher.
Nine times out of ten, the Pedigree looks pretty good, and the crowd still pops for it, so I wouldn't have Triple H drop the move yet. That said, I would like to see a lot more main event matches end without the use of a finisher. I think it would add to the believability of the bouts.
I know its never been spoken about but surely Flair must be annoyed that Triple H has pretty much guaranteed to beat his 16 world title reigns. If HHH wins this Sunday at The Bash then it'll be his 14th time as Champion. Surely though most people wont look at it in the same way they look at Flair's. I mean Flair earned all his Championships and Triple H is pretty much only where he is due to being Married to Steph. What's you opinion on it?
Anyone who thinks Triple H's title reigns hold the same weight as most of Flair's title reigns, they are insane. Up until around the early 90's, the World Champion of a company was a top star that was being relied on to draw houses for the company. With the 90's came a change in philosophy and the way shows are booked. Title changes happened frequently, and often the champion is NOT the top draw or the person the company relies on to bring in fans. For example, while CM Punk is a fine champion, is he really the draw that Undertaker or Rey Mysterio is? Triple H can win the title 300 times, and will be remembered as a great wrestler, but he won't be looked at the same way as Ric Flair. That's not a slight either, as no one will.
What is WWE's view on Bob Backlund? It seems odd to me that a guy who was essentially positioned as the peer to Ric Flair and Harley Race back in the day and who had some pretty historic matches now has zero profile with the company. You've had Randy Orton and Chris Jericho both do legend-beating storylines and Backlund wasn't involved in either - was he invited to be and he turned them down, Sammartino-style? Just curious.
WWE actually approached Bob Backlund a few years ago about going into the WWE Hall Of Fame, but Backlund refused the invitation, insisting he had one more run in him as a wrestler. He then went and worked for TNA. These days, Backlund runs an oil heating company in Connecticut, and makes occasional appearances on indy shows. His relationship with WWE seems to be fine, as they recently did a feature on him on WWE.com at this link.
I was watching TNA Impact this week and noticed Kurt Angle is growing a beard and letting his hair regrow (don't think he should since it shows how far his hairline has receded) is he letting it grow for a movie role or just because he wants to? Also whatever happened to Kurt's brother Eric?
From what I understand, Kurt is just trying a different look. As for Eric Angle, after he was released from his WWE developmental deal in 2003, he worked a few indy shots, but got injured, and decided to leave wrestling behind and pursue other interests.
At Wrestlemaina 25 Rey beat JBL for the title and then JBL quit. This happened once before with the same two guys so my question is this- Was JBL hurt or something and had to retire again or is there some other reason for the way that went down?JBL just decided to leave wrestling behind and pursue his other business interests, and wanted to go out on the biggest show of the year, against one of his closest friends in the company. JBL even remarked in an interview that he specifically wanted his last match to be against Rey Mysterio.
