ECW Thoughts:
I was surprised to see Christian debut on tonight’s show since I had not seen anything mentioned on the site. With the talent roster slightly depleted because of the other two brands, bringing him in to feud with Jack Swagger could do a lot to help Swagger.
It was funny to hear Grisham and Striker talk about Christian like he never wrestled in the company. Does Todd think that the ‘WWE Universe’ has only been watching the product since mid 2005? And maybe they haven’t seen him in a while because I don’t remember the Christian that Striker was describing during the match.
The Dreamer/Miz match was okay and continues the ‘will Dreamer ever win another match before he retires’ storyline. Maybe they can have a reverse Flair to culminate at whatever One Night Stand is called where if he wins, he has to retire.
I liked that they debuted Tyson Kidd and brought back Natalya onto television, but there was too much going on during that segment. Before we saw Natalya and Tyson, I was worried about who Teddy’s meeting was with.
With what I have seen from TJ Wilson both in FCW and on the independent scene, I am really looking forward to his work in the ring. I think they can have a lot of good things with Kidd against Jamie Noble or the returning Evan Bourne.
Did anyone else want to see Christian trip Hornswoggle when he was running laps around him in the locker room?
At least we have the tease of Christian against either Swagger or Finlay.
If Christian says that he wants the winner of the match, why would Teddy Long put Swagger and Christian in the ring already?
Since Tyson Kidd was not wrestling a WWE contracted talent, it was a good debut and you knew that Kidd was going to win. I liked TJ’s work in the match and outside of his finisher, Tyson did not look nervous in the ring.
I hope that with Natalya paired with Tyson that it does not mean that she will not get a chance to wrestle.
It is funny to see Tyson Kidd and Natalya on television together before DH Smith when you consider what was reported on the site about DH trying to get into the Legacy storyline without his tag team partner (and DH did cut a promo on this week’s FCW about the Legacy). I guess Earl Hickey would call that karma.
While I was happy to see Christian’s debut on this week’s show, after the match, they need to do a lot to build Christian. The match with Swagger was okay and he did not look too strong needing Hornswoggle and Finlay to cheat for him.
Can someone please tell WWE creative that Hornswoggle’s grunting is not entertaining. Let the guy speak. Is he some sort of wolf kid? Is he going to be Best in Show?
As soon as Hornswoggle and Finlay came out, even Anne Frank (Clerks II reference again) or that SiskelEbert guy (NewsRadio) could have seen that they would interfere in the match.
Christian’s debut was not a home run, and might have been considered a single with the outfielder bobbling the ball to allow the runner to get to second.
