IMPACT REPORT: JEFF JARRETT TELLS STING THE TRUTH; BEST SELLING AUTHOR DEBUTS; ARE A.J. AND CHRISTIAN GOING TO BREAK UP ONE MORE TIME?

By Richard Trionfo on 2008-09-22 01:12:17
We begin tonight’s show with a look back at last Sunday’s No Surrender pay per view. In case you missed it, Sheik Abdul Bashir won the X Division title in Canada; Abyss and Matt Morgan won, but they had issues; So Cal Val was screwing Jay Lethal inside the ring; Rhino was at the side of Taylor Wilde as she retained the Women’s title; A.J. Styles lost to Frank Trigg, but he got to beat him senseless with a kendo stick; and Samoa Joe, with an assist from Jeff Jarrett was able to win the “Who Will Face Sting at Bound for Glory Sweepstakes”. What is in store tonight?

We are live on tape from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida and your announcers are Mike ‘Dude Love’ Tenay and Don ‘Cactus’ West.

Samoa Joe comes to the ring and he still has his TNA Heavyweight Title. Joe is back to his casual look as he has eschewed the suit this week. Joe reminds us that he was taken to the limit on Sunday night by two of the greatest wrestlers. They might have their differences, but they showed up and gave everything for the most coveted prize in the world in front of the greatest fans in the world. Joe asks Sting that while they bust their asses for the fans, where is he. While they carry the company and wrestle their asses off, where is Sting? Joe says that he will die in the ring to defend his belt. Joe wonders when the last time that Sting bled, sweated, or gave up anything for TNA. While they are traveling around the world, Sting stays at home. Joe mentions the time that A.J. misses spending with his children and then wonders when was the last time that Sting missed his son’s football game. When was the last time that Sting sacrificed time away from his family to be at TNA. At Bound for Glory, it will not be about respect. It will be Sting asking for Joe’s respect and offering his hand. Joe says that he will not accept his hand and he will kick Sting’s ass. He tells Sting that it will be his final bow.

TO THE BACK earlier today when Jeff Jarrett arrived. Jeremy asks Jarrett what brought him back. Jarrett says that he has something to say and he hopes that Sting is listening.

We go to commercial.

Don and Mike are back and Sting is on his way to the Impact Zone. Don wonders how Kurt Angle is going to react to what Jarrett will say.

Kurt Angle interrupts Don and Mike and he says that he has a message for Jeff Jarrett. They will cross paths and he will tell him tonight. Angle remembers that A.J. Styles has Angle’s gold medal and he will take it from A.J. when he comes out tonight.

Styles shakes the hands of Shelley and Sabin; and then Christian shakes Sabin’s hand, but Shelley shows Christian that he is number one. Sabin joins in and then the referee has to separate Christian from Shelley and Sabin. We have a scrum in the ring and then Shelley tells Cage to ‘cross the line’.

We go to the Book Lounge where Booker T and Sharmell are with Jeremy Borash. Jeremy mentions Booker’s match against Jay Lethal, but he wants to know what Booker thinks about all of the talk of respect in the locker room. Booker says that the disrespect in the back is like the plague in Africa. Booker talks about what happened when those two punks disrespected Christian Cage while his tag team partner just stood there. Booker says that is what Sting was talking about. Booker talks about how Jay Lethal has been disrespecting a legend like Randy Savage. Jeremy says that Lethal is doing it to honor Savage. Booker says that he will show Lethal honor. Jeremy asks Booker about Jeff Jarrett and what he might be talking about tonight. Sharmell interjects and says Booker knows what Jarrett will say. He was a peaceful man and accomplished everything he wanted. Now there is just a deep hatred and the belt is his hostage. He dares anyone to try to take the belt from him. He asks if you are willing to lose everything to get the title. He says that he is willing to do so because he has already lost everything.

Williams sets for the Canadian Destroyer while the other wrestlers make their way back into the ring. Curry Man and Shark Boy take care of Rave and Devine while Eric hits a cross body from the top turnbuckle for the three count.
Winners: Shark Boy, Super Eric, and Curry Man

After the match, Rave, Devine, and Williams are not happy about their loss. Rave and Devine blame Williams and they push Williams. The referee tries to break things up and Rave pushes the referee to the side. Williams pushes Rave but Devine punches Williams. Lance gets involved in the post-match beatdown and he throws the referee down to the mat. The ref stares at something and then he gets visibly angry. Earl Hebner comes to the ring to calm down Shane Sewell and he reverts back to the ‘docile’ pre-bell version of Festus.

TO THE BACK and Jeremy Borash finds Sting. Jeremy tells Sting that Jeff Jarrett has something to say and he wants Sting there to listen to him. Sting says that if that is what Jeff wants, that is what Jeff gets. He tells Jarrett to speak now or forever hold his peace.

I now pronounce you Commercial.

We are back with footage from a press conference featuring Matt Morgan. Matt will have his DNA sent to the International Space Station. Matt is presented with a plaque to commemorate the honor. Matt talks about the goals of athletes, to win and to leave a legacy. Now he is leaving a legacy.

Sting comes to the ring and he has something to say. Sting tells Joe that his words cut to the bone. The truth is that Joe is naïve and immature and not smart enough to know what is going on. Joe is ticked off that Sting goes to his son’s football games. Sting points out that he was traveling 340 days a year, wrestling in small gymnasiums twenty years ago, making twenty dollars a show . . . fifty dollars on a good day. Sting says that he has been doing this for twenty years and he has not forgotten where he came from. Joe talks about respect, but he learned his respect from the very best. He took example from the greatest. Sting asks Joe what is he going to do in fifteen years when disrespect gets up in his face. Sting says that he learned from Magnum TA, Nikita Koloff, Dusty Rhodes, Tully Blanchard, and listened to Ric Flair. Sting says that disrespect might be coming into his face sooner than later. Sting talks about their match at Bound for Glory and while Joe might be younger and bigger, he has some tricks up his sleeve. Sting says that it will be Showtime this year after the last two years being phenomenal.

He asks Lauren if she has seen Sonjay and Val because he wants to kill both of them. Jay mentions what he heard from Booker about how he is disrespecting the Macho Man. We see a Jeff Jarrett video package.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Jeff Jarrett is walking. He makes his way into the Impact Zone. Jeff says that after watching what has been going on over the last few weeks, he felt that he had to come back to address the fans. When you first saw Jeff Jarrett in the ring, you not only saw Jeff Jarrett the wrestler, but you saw Jeff Jarrett the founder of TNA. He says that he had a vision when WCW went out of business. He wanted an organization where young people can get their break in the business. Jeff says that he knows about young wrestlers getting their break because he was sixteen when he started. He wanted TNA to become that place. Jeff mentions his wife, a great financial partner, and fans all over the world who have made this possible over the last six years.

Jeff says that something has been going on that he cannot ignore. He wants Sting to come out so he can talk to him face-to-face and man-to-man. Sting comes to the ring. Jarrett reminds Sting that they have been in this business a long time. Jeff reminds Sting that his father gave him his start. Jeff says that he has been listening to what Sting has to say. Jeff tells Sting that he is full of crap. Jarrett says that it is a smoke screen to say that the young guys are disrespecting the veterans. Jarrett says that the young guys are making TNA. Joe and A.J. have carried this company on their backs and they showed Jeff the utmost respect. Jeff says that he showed them the same respect. It isn’t about disrespect. He wants to pull the curtain back. Sting says that this is déjà vu all over again. WCW went under because the veterans wouldn’t pass the torch to the younger guys. Jarrett says that they wanted to hold on to their spot and their paychecks. Jarrett points out that the locker room is full of people under thirty. It is the people like Sting, Booker, and Kurt Angle. All they want to do is take and do not want to give. Jarrett tells Sting that this isn’t WCW, it is TNA and he is not going to stand for it.

Kurt Angle comes to the ring and he is focused on Jarrett. Angle wants to know why Jarrett is going to talk behind his back when he confronts Sting. Jarrett interrupts Angle and he says that Angle knows this story better than anyone. Jarrett points out that he had to step away two years ago for family issues. Jarrett says that he picked the one guy who had the same passion and mentality about the business. That one person was Kurt Angle. Jarrett says that he picked Angle to fill his shoes. Jarrett says that as the founder of the company, this was the worst decision he made. Angle has lost his family, his wife, his title, and his gold medal. Jarrett says that the only thing Angle has left to lose is his dignity. Angle asks if it is okay to talk. Angle says that Jarrett left the business because he was over the hill. Sting kicked Jarrett’s ass two years ago at Bound for Glory. Angle says that Jarrett did not have the heart. Jarrett found a younger, better version of Jeff Jarrett and that was Kurt Angle. Angle says that he has carried this company for the last two years by himself. Not once did Jarrett thank Angle for saving this company. Angle calls Jarrett and the fans a**holes. Angle wants to trade punches with Jarrett at Bound for Glory.

Jarrett says that he came out tonight as the founder of TNA, not as a wrestler. He has nothing to prove tonight. Angle tells Jarrett that he is not finished. Angle says that if Jarrett is not a wrestler, he should get out of his ring. The ring is for wrestlers, not washed up has beens. Jarrett tells Angle not to push him because Jarrett tells Angle that he does not want any of the pain that he has been feeling. Jarrett points to the video screen and we see the smiley face with barbed wire that is associated with Mick Foley.

Mick appears on the screen and he says hello to Kurt. Mick says that what Jarrett is trying to say is that it is real . . . damn real. Mick with a bang bang and we go to credits.

Impact Thoughts:

The Matches:

I liked the Motor City Machine Guns versus Cage and Styles match. All four men looked good in the match. With the recent reunification of Christian and A.J., I hope they are not trying to set up their demise again. I guess the Machine Guns are going to be part of the ‘Show No Respect’ group once they divide the entire roster into the two groups. Why not give the Machine Guns the chance to be in a pay per view match that is not a multi-team match that does not get the chance to focus on one or two people.

The six man tag match with Johnny Devine, Petey Williams, Jimmy Rave, and the League of Extraordinary Gimmicks was an okay match, but the post-match activities make everything that took place in the match forgettable. The only thing that people will remember is that the referee had to save the guy who was the X Division champion until this past Sunday.

Was the Booker T/Jay Lethal match sponsored by Dramamine because with all of the edits from the action to Sharmell’s reaction to the action that we did not see because we were watching Sharmell, I was getting a little nauseous. Can we focus on the wrestling? It was a good match, but if we could focus on the wrestling, it would have come off better on television. I guess it is a sign of respect to have someone else cheat for you?

The mixed tag match was okay, but I thought there wasn’t supposed to be any ‘male on female’ violence so why was Velvet able to fight Rhino? Is Taylor Wilde the John Cena of TNA because she always seems to overcome the odds to win.

The Rest:

If Booker T already knows what Jeff Jarrett is going to say, why does he have to listen to what Jarrett has to say? Why not react to what he will say early in the show if it is a bad thing?

Is Steven Seagal doing a sequel to Marked for Death? Is that why Booker sounds like he is Kofi Kingston’s neighbor?

How long before Booker starts including ‘Crisp and Clean . . . with no caffeine’ into his promos or start asking for Daddy Warbucks?

I loved the ‘royal’ accent that Booker had during the days of ‘King Bookaaaaaaaaaah’ but this Caribbean dialect is not up to snuff.

If you have accomplished everything in your life, why did Sheik Abdul Bashir have to win the X Division title? Is he now going off a different list of things to accomplish? Is he just greedy and bashing people for being greedy while he is just as bad as everyone he condemns?

If Curry Man’s entrance was so over with the people in the Impact Zone, why did they take it away for the generic group entrance?

I might not have gone to medical school, but in this company, the ‘Knockouts’ have been associated with the women’s division in TNA. If that is the case, that would mean that Traci is in charge of the women in the company. Why would she be able to tell Hector Guerrero that he needs to be in Jim Cornette’s office? Is there something we don’t know about Hector?

If you are going to have Sting talking about respect and how Joe and A.J. did not show respect by attacking people, should TNA show clips of Sting doing those same things to Joe and Styles? Those in glass houses should not throw stones (or swing a baseball bat or rehash an angle from WCW).

Do they remember how most people on PWInsiderElite.com pointed out that A.J. Styles was a tad successful in this company before Christian debuted in 2005? Wasn’t A.J. a World Champion before Christian?

I thought Jeff Jarrett’s promo was great, and it would have been one of the best promos that I have seen in a long time if you could edit out the Sting and Angle parts. Jeff’s comments came off as legitimate and not for the purpose of any storyline. In one promo, Jeff was able to shoot down every argument that Sting has made over the last few weeks. I guess if the head of the company admits that Joe and A.J. were the people on top for a while, it must be hard to challenge that.

I really hope that this promo was not a smokescreen of his own to foreshadow that he is going to join forces with Sting, Angle, and Booker.
