TONIGHT'S RAW, REY MYSTERIO'S KNEE SURGERY, ECW SHOW CHANGES, GREAT NEWS FOR SMACKDOWN AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2006-10-23 18:28:00

Announced for Raw tonight:

*Randy Orton vs. Triple H in a rematch.
*More Women's Title stuff with Lita, Melina, Maria and Mickie James.  My guess is it ends up with James and Lita for the title.
*More merriment with K-Fed, a.k.a. Mr. Britney Spears.

WWE.com has one of their worked shoot stories where they talked about Rey Mysterio needing knee surgery due to what Chavo Guerrero did to him at last week's PPV.  Of course, Rey has needed surgery for months now and has put it off to help the company while and after he was champion, but the site, *cough* reported that, and I quote, "Dr. Ferdinand Rios of the WWE medical staff has confirmed that Rey originally hyper extended his knee when Chavo locked his legs in the lighting structure. The subsequent six powerful blows that Chavo dealt to Rey’s already injured knee ruptured Mysterio’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and tore his patella tendon. The damage to the knee is so extensive that it cannot bear weight, and the normally agile Mysterio will need crutches to get around and extensive surgery to repair the shattered knee. Dr. Rios added that the invasive surgery on Rey’s knee is very serious and will require a large amount of physical therapy."

Well, he will need the therapy anyway.  WWE.com continues to be a "Sybil" site in that they don't know if they want to work or shoot, so what the hell, they do both.  Then again, they did "report" that a guy with the wrong name died last week, so I guess it's to be expected.

Devin Cutting reporting. ... The ECW event that was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 26 at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Ala. will now take place on the same date at 7:00 p.m. at the Gadsden Convention Hall in Gadsden, Ala. Birmingham will still be able to experience Extreme Championship Wrestling on Monday, Jan. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Boutwell Auditorium.

Robert Miranda sent this one. ... At AOL.com they have a music video of 'K-Fed' getting FU'd by John Cena. The song in the background is Beautiful Day by U2 and is meant as a comedy act. Not the quality of David Sahadi but it's still entertaining.

Dion Morroy reporting. ... During game two of the World Series tonight they played Eddie Guerrero's Latino Heat theme song when Ivan Rodriguez came up to plate during the seventh inning.

As we reported over the weekend, Smackdown did its best fast national number to date this week.  The show has been one of the few on the CW Network that hasn't taken a huge hit since WB and UPN merged.  They sent out the following press release today touting the show's success this week.
