PWINSIDER Q & A: SABU IN WCW, PAYING FOR SONG RIGHTS, WHO WANTS BACK INTO WWE, SICK QUESTION ABOUT A SICK MATCH, ALEX WRIGHT AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2006-10-02 13:15:00
Whatever happened to Das Wonderkin Alex Wright? Will he ever return?

We get this question a lot for some reason.  All I know is that he went back home to Germany after his run in WCW.  I haven't heard of any plans of WWE to bring him back to work here.

Which matches did Sabu have in WCW in 1995?

On 9/11/95 he lost to the above-mentioned Alex Wright.  On 10/9 he beat Mr. JL.  On 10/30 he beat Disco Inferno.  His run there was a short one and part of WCW's New Japan deal.

If WWE would have to pay for the rights for songs such as "Enter Sandman" and "Man in the Box" if they wanted to use them for Sandman and Tommy Dreamer, how did ECW get around paying for actual songs like "Enter Sandman", "Man in the Box", "Back in Black", and "Natural Born Killaz"?

ECW worked out deals with the artists/movie companies back then to use their music.  Since they were a very small operation, they weren't charged the rights fees that WWE, a huge company, would have to pay to use the music now.  With that said, Vince McMahon made it very clear when he was restarting ECW that he had no desire to use the older, established music.  He wanted to create his own music for the acts and use that instead.

Do you know were I can get a copy of the Mass Transit Massacre match? I really like to own a copy, and see how bloody the match was.

I have no idea where you could find one and frankly, your desire to see it is kind of disturbing to me.  It was not something that normal people would want to look at since New Jack carelessly sliced Erich Kulas' head and blood literally spurted out of his head.  A written report is bad enough without actually wanting to see it.

I read recently that 2 Cold Scorpio and Billy Kidman wrestled dark matches on WWE shows. Do you know if WWE is interested in bringing them back or if this was just a one time thing?

Both men got tryout matches looking for work.  As I type this on 9/24, WWE has already brought back Scorpio.  Kidman would reportedly also love to get a job with WWE and was backstage at TNA last week, so it's obvious he wants back into the business.  Given that they are looking to bring back veterans to help teach young talent, if Kidman is willing to commit himself to the business again, he would be a decent guy to bring in and work with the smaller guys like himself.
